3 Reasons Why You Should Cleanse Well
Remember how you used to complain to your mother about having to wash your face every day? Turns out, mom was correct! Regular skin cleansing is essential for maintaining healthy-looking and feeling skin.

Here are 3 reasons why you should cleanse well:
- Removal of Build Up
The removal of dirt, oil, and other unwanted debris is a common benefit of facial cleansing. The skin on your face is constantly covered with bacteria, pollutants, viruses, dirt, and old (dead) skin cells throughout the day. Daily facial washing removes these impurities, giving the skin a clean appearance. Without washing, your skin would be covered in a thick layer of dirt and grime, making it difficult for other products to properly penetrate the skin.
- Maintaining Clear Skin
To protect the skin from the outside world, tiny glands under the skin produce oil called sebum. These glands use hair follicles within the skin as a pathway, allowing the oil to reach the skin's surface (outer layer) and form a barrier that prevents bacteria and other harmful agents from penetrating.
Excessive dirt accumulation on the surface can clog the follicle, trapping sebum, sweat, and dead skin cells. Because there is no sebum on the skin's surface, bacteria can enter the follicle and cause inflammation. Acne is the end result.
Proper skin cleansing clears pores of debris to prevent dirt buildup, allowing sebum oil to reach the skin's surface unhindered, reducing the likelihood of a breakout.
- Boosting Hydration
Regular facial cleansing (along with the use of a good moisturizer) is also essential in assisting the skin in maintaining a proper level of hydration. Dehydrated skin appears rough, wrinkled, and aged. Cleansing aids in the management of the skin's PH levels, allowing for adequate water and product retention.
