Celebrating women, celebrating YOU!

Celebrating women, celebrating YOU!

We had the chance to interview 4 inspiring women and we're happy to be able to share their stories on Sigi Skin's platform!

Zhou Ang, Doctor

1. What would you tell your younger self?

Be curious, try new things, and be kinder to yourself.

Also, double cleanse and wear sunscreen – 2 skincare habits that I wished I learnt earlier!

2. Who is your biggest influence in life?

My mum! She is truly my biggest influence and everyday hero and never fails to inspire me to be a better person.

3. What is one skincare product you cannot live without?

Sunscreen! In particular, my trusty Sigi Skin Morning Glow Physical Sunscreen! I've never been happier putting on sunscreen and finally discovered my holy grail.

Xiao Han, Fitness Instructor

1. What advice would you give women struggling in a male-dominated industry?

Always bear in mind that it’s your capabilities that got you where you are and don’t be afraid to speak up and shine!

2. What would you tell your younger self?

Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and be more confident!

And also, put sunscreen!!!

3. What is one skincare product you love?

I have so many products that I love but one product that I love putting on everyday is Sigi Skin’s Morning Glow! I love the smell and the texture and most importantly, it protects my skin!

Biyi, Founder

1. Who is your biggest influence in life?

My mum!

2. It's amazing that you are leading an all-woman team in a male-dominated industry, what are some barriers you have faced?

Unconscious bias in different forms; that ladies are more emotional, less knowledgable technically, more fragile to handle the harsh site conditions and in general how leadership appears rightfully male in a male dominated industry. In short, women are unconsciously undermined and we have to put in more hard work to get recognition.

And how did you overcome them?

I stress a lot on professionalism and leadership without losing our feminine authenticity in my office. I do not believe in molding ourselves to possess more masculine qualities in order to prove our worth and capabilities in the industry. Instead, we embrace and celebrate our feminine values such as empathy, compassion and intuition. Having an all-woman team allows me to stand up for a different way of business.

Our supportive culture that stresses teamwork and flexibility enables the team to continuously hone our professional knowledge. With knowledge, the team is confident and naturally with confidence, barriers are removed as respect is earned.

3. What is your favourite self-care activity to do?

I have a few but one of my favorites has to be heading down to my hair salon to have a hair wash massage, treatment, haircut (just about anything). It rejuvenates me pretty magically. Another would be pampering myself with a face mask (tea-tox!). To be honest, I am pretty lazy on face masks so putting one on definitely is a conscious act of self-care.

Erica, Mother of 3

1. How do you juggle between being a mom of 3 and your job?

Basically I have a lot of help, I have got my helper, in laws, relatives and my own mum to help me with my 3 kiddos. Also, I am quite a chill mum and I feel at ease knowing that my kids are in good hands :)

2. What advice would you like to give to your daughter?

Knowing how to protect herself is very important and I want her to be who she really is.

3. What is one skincare product you love?

Sheet Masks! I love masking! I mask at least 300 times per year!

Special thanks for Zhou Ang, Xiao Han, Biyi and Erica for sharing!

Happy International Women's Day to all, you go girl! ❤️
