How your skin changes when you're pregnant

Is "pregnancy glow" real?

While there are a few lucky mummies who got to experience glowing skin, rosy cheeks, and shiny hair, there are also a few other mummies who had other skin changes that are not so "glowy'.

Some skin changes you might notice during pregnancy include:

  • Pregnancy acne
  • Skin tags, or small, raised growths on the skin particularly under your arms
  • Dry skin
  • Oily skin
  • Spider veins
  • Skin discolouration
  • Rashes / redness

As increased blood flow and oil production are the factors behind the radiant pregnancy glow, that can also result in acne. As the pregnancy hormones cause your pores to secrete excess oil.

If you're experiencing pregnancy acne and/or oily skin:

Try Kaleanser, our jelly-like textured face wash that gently removes makeup, dirt and oils without stripping your skin off its natural moisture barrier. This keeps your skin hydrated, supple, and will not cause it to overproduce oil.

For daytime protection, ensure that your skin is properly moisturised with Idyllic Fields. Waterless and weightless, this unique formula is made with 71.9% oats, super soothing and calming for irritated skin! It also contains Matcha Extracts to regulate sebum production.

If you're experiencing dry, dull skin:

Dream Capsule is our overnight sleeping mask which will repair and nourish your skin while you sleep. Formulated with Bakuchiol, Niacinamide, Purslane, and Squalane, Dream Capsule helps stimulate collagen production to achieve brighter, plumper skin. Get your pregnancy glow on!

If you're experiencing rashes and/or redness:

Spray Dew Potion, our 100% extracts mist, over irritated and sensitised skin. As it is made with 55% Chamomile Extracts, Dew Potion can soothe, calm and protect the skin.

Heal and strengthen your skin's microbiome with Tea-Tox, our silky-soft sheet mask contains a powerful concoction of 20% Probiotics, Kombucha, Fermented Sake, and Yuzu Extracts. Tea-Tox helps to eliminate skin sensitivity, and achieve healthy, balanced skin.

If you're experiencing skin discolouration:

A natural increase in melanin during pregnancy causes darkened skin, especially on the face. Try our physical sunscreen, Morning Glow, a hydrating and lightweight formula that does not leave a white cast.
