Why is Idyllic Fields a waterless moisturiser?

Our newest daytime moisturiser, Idyllic Fields, is 100% waterless and weightless.

This unique formulation has a high concentration of oats extracts at 71.9%, which re-balances the microbiome on our skin to soothe inflammation and redness.

But, why a waterless formulation, you might ask.

Water (or Aqua) is commonly found as the first ingredient of most skincare products, which means it is used in the highest quantity.

Water-based skincare products actually take more away from your skin than they do to keep you feeling hydrated and glowing. This might sound crazy, but it is because as the water evaporates from your skin, it takes your skin’s natural oils with it. 

Additionally, water as an ingredient in skincare is cheap and the more water used, the more preservatives are needed to ensure the formula has a long shelf life.

When more preservatives are used to maintain the shelf life, this decreases the potency of the actual product you are paying for.

*However, note that some ingredients need water as a carrier to be delivered to the skin when you apply it.

What replaces water then?

Botanical extracts and oils are used as the base instead. But in the case of Idyllic Fields, Colloidal Oatmeal Extracts have been formulated to be used as the base. 

Despite being waterless, Idyllic Fields is a lightweight soft souffle textured crème and is easily absorbed into the skin.
