Ingredient Spotlight Adenosine - Youth Beam and Morning Glow

Adenosine is a relatively new ingredient in skin care formulations, with some evidence suggesting that it can help make the skin look younger, brighter and smoother. There has also been evidence that suggests adenosine can soothe and support wound healing and the natural function of the skin along with anti-ageing properties.

Adenosine is abundant in nature and inside the body, however, manufacturers often extract it from yeast and include it in skincare products in small concentrations.

Adenosine’s benefit to the skin

Anti-ageing and smoothening

According to a 2018 study, adenosine is an effective anti-wrinkle agent due to its ability to increase collagen synthesis and skin moisture.

Similarly, another study in 2020 showed that adenosine could stimulate fibroblasts in the skin. Fibroblasts are a type of cell that secretes collagen proteins and aids in wound healing which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Soothing and healing

Adenosine possesses anti-inflammatory properties and helps to regulate the body’s inflammatory responses which is great for acne-prone skin.

Restoring

As the skin ages, it produces less collagen. Free radicals, UV exposure and aging can degrade collagen proteins in the skin.

Adenosine’s ability to stimulate collagen formation can help strengthen the skin, restore its elasticity and improve hydration.

Adenosine is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive complexions and can be found in Youth Beam and Morning Glow
