Post-Sports Skincare: How to care for your skin after outdoor activities like sports or hiking in Singapore's climate.

For some, the great outdoors is their sanctuary. Whether it’s waking up at 5am to hike and watch the sunrise, kayaking in the middle of Kallang River, or a simple leisurely swim by the pool, soaking up the sun while playing your favourite sport can be a form of therapy. But while such activities might be good for your body and soul, prolonged exposure to the heat and humidity will do the opposite for your skin if not taken care of properly. 

Having said that, we’re here to give you a guide on how to nurture your post outdoor sports skin

1. Wear sunscreen!!!

One of, if not the cardinal summer sports rule is to layer on the SPF. Not only would it prevent premature ageing and hyperpigmentation, but it would also prevent worse skin complications like sunburn, peeling, and even cancer. We recommend our Morning Glow SPF 50, waterproof sunscreen, infused with avocado and niacinamide to protect and hydrate your skin.

2. Cool your skin off post-exercise 

Straight after any outdoor sport, the bodily and environmental heat can make your skin especially sensitive and feel “hot” or appear rosy. That’s when you know your skin could use a cooldown to soothe redness and irritation. Try a few spritzes of our Dew Potion Facial Mist infused with 55% chamomile extracts to calm the skin down and deeply hydrate. 

3. Rinse off sweat and dirt promptly 

Avoid sitting in your sweaty sports attire for a prolonged period of time as bacteria and dirt build up can make the skin more prone to breakouts and irritation, even more so if it's sitting on top of makeup. Use a gentle cleanser like our Kaleanser to double cleanse and gently yet thoroughly remove any oil, dirt or makeup remnants shortly after your outdoor activity. 4. Hydrate generously 

Singapore’s unforgiving hot climate can be very dehydrating for your skin and your body. Aside from drinking ample amounts of water during, and after your outdoor sports, replenish lost moisture on your skin by applying a hydrating serum or moisturizer immediately after cleansing.
