Transitioning from summer to winter skincare

Transitioning from summer to winter skincare

Cold lovers, the months of November to January are for you. For those of us who have been lamenting about Singapore’s hot weather, a chance to escape to winter countries is a dream come true. But as the seasons change, so do the needs of your skin. The winter’s cold and dryness can bring a whole new set of skin concerns, which makes transitioning your skincare routine essential to maintain healthy, radiant skin throughout the year. Here are some tips on how you can make the switch smoothly and effectively!

1. Use a non-drying, soap free cleanser

During the colder months, humidity levels drop and the air is colder and dryer, making it harsher on the skin’s moisture barrier. It’s essential to use a non-drying yet effective cleanser to ensure hydration is not depleted further. Opt for foam or gel-based cleansers that are soap-free and hydrating. Our Kaleanser is perfect for double cleansing without stripping during the winter months. Infused with Kale and Soy Extracts, the unique jelly-like textured cleanser removes dirt, makeup and oil effectively.

2. Introduce Rich Moisturisers

The lightweight moisturisers may not cut it in the drier climate. Richer, thicker moisturisers are needed to provide deeper, longer-lasting hydration to create a barrier against the harsher elements as well. Consider using a thicker moisturiser, or try our Dream Capsule Sleeping Mask that offers a thicker, whipped souffle textured cream infused with Bakuchiol, Squalene and Purslane to achieve deep hydration overnight.

3. Exfoliate gently

With the dry, cold air, the winter months make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation. Gentler methods of exfoliation are great to remove dry skin build up and promote cell turnover without the harsh scrubs. We recommend using our Bright Skies Gel Exfoliator that does not use physical abrasives, instead, gently sloughs off dry skin and is suitable for all skin types.

4. Don’t skip your sunscreen!

Don’t be fooled by the snow and cold wind, UV Rays can still peek through the clouds even when the sun is covered. It is essential to still include SPF into your routine to ensure your skin does not suffer from sun damage. Opt for a broad spectrum SPF sunscreen like our Morning Glow with SPF 50, PA++++, which doubles as a great hydrating makeup primer as well.
