Unassuming habits that may be causing acne

Breakouts happen, but they may not always be due to excessive sebum, clogged pores, or hormonal fluctuations. Read on to check if you have any of these unassuming habits that could be causing your skin to flare up!

Even with a proper skincare routine, there are many objects in your daily life that could be carrying large amounts of bacteria that ultimately get transferred to your face. Take your phone for example. On a daily basis, we bring our phones everywhere, and don’t hesitate to put them on any surface even if just for a while. The crevices in your phone case and other nooks and crannies of the phone’s structure create a breeding ground for bacteria. According to a study by scientists at the University of Arizona, your phone is ten times dirtier than most toilet seats! What’s even worse, you bring your phone close to your face and mouth all the time.

It’s time to adopt the habit of regularly disinfecting your phone and any other object that will come in contact with your face on a usual basis. That includes pillowcases and makeup brushes. Generally, you should change your bedsheets and pillowcases once a week, especially if you allow pets onto your bed! The same goes for makeup brushes - it is recommended to wash them every 7~10 days in order to get rid of residual bacteria and old products that could clog up your pores. From day to night, it is essential to keep these objects clean to avoid breakouts!

Finally, make sure you wash your face properly every morning and evening. With a gentle, jelly cleanser like our Kaleanser face wash, you’ll be able to effectively remove bacteria from your skin without stripping your skin of its natural oils. Keep up with this simple routine and lifestyle tips to guard against unwanted acne flare ups!
